IDF chief in US for four-day visit

IDF Chief of Staff Lt.-Gen. Gadi Eisenkot landed Sunday in the United States on an official working visit. He is there for four days as the guest of the U Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Joseph Dunford.

The visit will include working meetings with military and security officials in Utah, Florida and Washington. These meetings will discuss shared security challenges, developments in regional security in the Middle East and military cooperation.
Eisenkot visited the first operational squadron of F-35s, a Special Forces base in Florida, and he will lay a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Arlington National Cemetery and received an honor guard at the Pentagon.
In Eisenkot's absence, the position of chief of staff will be filled by Deputy Chief of Staff Maj.-Gen. Yair Golan.
Eisenkot is accompanied on his visit by his wife, Mrs. Hanna Eisenkot, IDF attaché in Washington, Gen. Jacob Manning, and Head of External Relations, Brig.-Gen. Erez Meisel.
