Eugene Kandel, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's top economic advisor, will resign after six years heading the National Economic Council.Kandel, who replaced Manuel Trachtenberg in the role in July, 2009, had been a key player in economic issues ranging from international trade to Israel's natural gas.Kandel, a proponent of the natural gas deal the government is currently trying to pass, has not announced a date for the resignation.His decision to resign is unrelated to the current gas deal.
