Matriculation exams cancelled after questions leaked to social media

Two matriculation exams scheduled to take place on Thursday for the Arab sector were canceled shortly before they were due to begin. The exams, in Hebrew language and literature and in comprehension and expression skills, were found leaked to social media earlier in the day.
Michal Cohen, director-general of the Education Ministry, said this is a severe incident and not one that will be overlooked, particularly in light of the leaks that occurred during the 2015 winter exams.
“Preserving the integrity of the examinations is a supreme value that should act as a beacon of light to schools. The undermining of this supreme value constitutes a flagrant and serious violation of the educational enterprise. The achieving of grades should be done through intensive, continuous, and fair learning,” said Cohen.
Upon learning about the second leaked exam, Cohen added: “Unfortunately, a small handful of lawbreakers is harming a large population of honest students and teachers, who worked hard throughout the year to achieve their marks.”
Cohen directed the examination department to turn the case over to the police.
