Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu spoke out in defense of the Shin Bet (Israel Security Agency) on Tuesday, amid allegations by supporters of suspected Jewish extremists that the agency was employing torture and other unlawful practices in their interrogations."Shin Bet chief Yoram Cohen and his people are doing excellent and important work for Israel and its security. The attacks against them are unacceptable. We are a state ruled by law," he said during a meeting with the visiting Ukrainian president."All of the Shin Bet's activities are carried out in accordance with the law and this operation is being carried out under the close supervision of the attorney general and the justice minister, and with the approval of the courts," he added."There is Arab terror that we are taking care of - that we are fighting day and night on every front - but unfortunately, from time to time there is also terror activity carried out by Jews and the Shin Bet is taking care of them as well. We will not accept terror from any side," the prime minister vowed.
