Nikki Haley declines Israeli accompaniment at Kotel

United States ambassador to UN Nikki Haley made a surprising decision to decline to have Israeli government representatives accompany her to the Western Wall, Foreign Ministry sources said Sunday, confirming a report by Channel 10.
Haley will come to Israel for the first time Wednesday after staunchly defending the Jewish state at the UN. She will meet President Reuven Rivlin and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu as part of her official visit, but her visit to the Wall is considered "private and religious."
Sources in the Foreign Ministry said they were not disappointed, because that part of her visit was considered private. On May 17, Haley told the Christian Broadcasting Network that "the Western Wall is part of Israel and I think that is how we have always seen it and that is how we should pursue it.”
