According to police, 11 youths who blocked traffic at a major intersection by the Western entrance to the capital during Tuesday night's demonstration were arrested.“Police arrived at the scene and ordered the protesters to clear the intersection near the Bridge of Strings because of the risk to themselves and drivers,” police said in a statement issued at 8:30 p.m. After refusing to follow the order, the youth were arrested on suspicion of disturbing public order. The statement added that while police allow freedom of speech as a means of protest, such demonstrations will be shut down if it breeches the public order.“Any attempt to violate police orders will be met with a heavy hand,” police warned, adding that the intersection where the disturbance took place was opened to traffic shortly after the disturbance.
