Police arrest 22 suspected drug dealers in central, northern Israel

Israel Police arrested 22 suspected drug dealers on Monday, culminating a year-long covert investigation into drug trafficking networks central and northern Israel.

Police said a 20-year-old undercover agent operated in central Israel and was successful in gathering evidence of transactions against the suspects. Border police raided dozens of homes on Monday and seized vehicles and large sums of suspected drug profits.

Prior to the arrests, the agent and his family met with Tel Aviv District Commander, Ass.-Ch. Moshe Edri and Ayalon District Commander Sigal Bar Tsvi. The agent was thanked for his service and is expected to be recruited into the police ranks.

“This activity is one of many activities within the framework of the struggle against drug trafficking and that the struggle against traffickers and distributors will continue without interruption, using all the tools available to the police,” police said in a statement.

In May police arrested 28 people after a six-month long undercover investigation into northern Israel drug and weapons trafficking networks.

Meanwhile, in April police arrested 20 suspects throughout Israel after a months-long undercover operation in the weapons and drug trafficking trade.
