Suspect arrested in double murder of mother and daughter outside Ramle

Police have arrested a suspect in the double murder of a mother and daughter found shot to death in their car outside Ramle Tuesday night.
The suspect – whose name is not cleared for publication – is a young man in his 20s who is currently on house arrest for making threats against another female member of the family. He was arrested multiple times in recent months after the woman complained to police, but was released each time after police were unable to secure enough evidence against him.
On Wednesday his remand was extended by five days at the Rishon Letzion Magistrate’s Court, but his attorney, Giora Zilberstein said his client has denied any link to the murder and regardless, he has the perfect alibi.
“He’s not connected to the murder and at the same time it happened he was at home with an ankle monitor on him and there was no report that he violated the house arrest. Therefore we have the perfect alibi and we hope the court will see this,” Zilberstein said.
The victims, named as 50-year-old Nariman Almugrabi and Sundus Almugrabi, aged 28, were spotted by a bystander around 10:30 while sitting in their vehicle in a lot near the junction outside Ramle. Paramedics ruled both dead at the scene.
Initially police suspected that the murders were linked to a feud between two Ramle families, but quickly determined that a member of the family had issued repeated complaints against a local man, who was then arrested hours later.
