Police seek remand extensions for 4 in Mt. Herzl collapse

Jerusalem Police on Thursday were expected to seek remand extensions for four people arrested in connection with the collapse of a lighting rig above a stage at the capital's Mount Herzl that killed one female soldier and injured a number of others on Wednesday.
Police were investigating the four, the stage designer, an engineer, a safety consultant and one other person, for negligent manslaughter. Accusations against them including paying bribes to secure the job and others, Army Radio reported.
At the Jerusalem Magistrate's Court on Thursday, police asked for a week-long remand extension for the suspects.
Thursday morning, it was revealed that soldiers taking part in the rehearsals on the stage for Remembrance and Independence Day ceremonies warned 20 minutes before the collapse that the lighting rig appeared unstable, Army Radio reported.
