President Rivlin given clean bill of health

The President of Israel, regardless of his identity, has a grueling schedule and works much longer than an eight hour day.  In addition to numerous meetings that begin early in the morning and end late at night, the president travels all over the country, pumping flesh, delivering speeches, inspecting facilities, meeting school children, farmers and industrialists and demonstrating knowledge and understanding about whatever is at hand, in addition to which he pays state visits abroad.
The president also pays frequent visits to army bases, meets with soldiers, inspects new equipment and is briefed by officers.
This would take a toll on the health of just about anyone, and especially of senior citizens.  But President Rivlin, 75, has proved to be in excellent health as was his predecessor Shimon Peres , who is 16 years his senior.
Rivlin on Thursday morning underwent a series of routine, annual  medical examinations at Tel Hashomer's Sheba Medical Center. The test results indicated that he is in good health, and in excellent physical condition for his age.
The president was guided by his doctors to maintain a nutritious and balanced diet, and keep up his daily physical activity. Peres was also careful about keeping a balanced and nutritious diet that frequently included fish.
Rivlin is a vegetarian who also includes fish in his diet.
