Raids in Kfar Qassem target gun smuggling from West Bank

After four months of working undercover in the Triangle city, police from the Central District arrested 16 suspects they said ran an arms smuggling and dealing operation in recent years.
The suspects allegedly bought firearms from the West Bank into Kfar Qassem, from where they were sold and distributed across Israel, police said Sunday morning.
All 16 suspects were arrested in pre-dawn raids Sunday, carried out by Central District detectives backed up by the Border Police.
Speaking after the raid, Central District Commander Bruno Stein said the operation meant “to put an immediate stop to the smuggling of firearms into Israel and to locate those responsible and to stop the use of these weapons.”
