Ramat Hasharon mayor faces new corruption charges

Ramat Hasharon Mayor Yitzhak Rochberger has been informed by the Tel Aviv Prosecutor's Office that he could face charges after a review of an old corruption investigation showed that there were sufficient grounds for an indictment.

Rochberger is suspected of illegally filing for expenses worth tens of thousands of shekels during the period between 2004 and 2006, when, while holding the position of mayor, he also acted as a chairman for a fund paid into by local council employees. As mayor, Rochberger was not allowed to receive payment for overseeing the fund, and police suspect that he was claiming the expenses he did not incur as a way to circumvent this rule.
