Report: Clinton never pressed PM to apologize to Turkey

Both Washington and Jerusalem have backed away from Wednesday's media reports that US Secretary of State Hilary Clinton put pressure on Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu during a telephone call to apologize to Turkey over the IDF raid of the Turkish vessel the Mavi Marmara in 2010 in which nine Turkish activists were killed, Israel Radio reported Thursday.
According to the report, the US State Department has said that the media speculation does not accurately reflect the heated nature of the phone call between Clinton and Netanyahu.
The Prime Minister's Office also distanced itself from the report, saying that Jerusalem and Washington continue to share warm relations and that the two governments are jointly trying to find a solution to the Mavi Marmara incident, and that the claim that Clinton asked Netanyahu to apologize is incorrect.
