Turkey’s foreign minister, Ahmet Davutoglu, said on Tuesday that the West’s failure to deal a military blow to Syrian President Bashar Assad would be tantamount to a “green light” permitting the government in Damascus to “continue its massacres.”According to Israel Radio, Davutoglu said that the government in Ankara is convinced that Assad ordered his troops to fire chemical weapons on an area just east of Damascus on August 21, resulting in the deaths of over 1,400 Syrians. The Turkish foreign minister told a local television station that his country was in possession of intelligence that confirms Assad’s role in the attack, according to Israel Radio.
