The US Air Force successfully test-launched an intercontinental ballistic missile from Vandenberg Air Force Base in California on Wednesday. The unarmed Minuteman III missile was launched just after 2 a.m. from the California coast. The launch was part of an excerise meant to verify the accuracy and security of the weapons system to ensure nuclear deterence.
