Alleged sexual abuser Yuval Carmi to be indicted, under house arrest
Israel Police requested that his arrest be extended by another seven days, but the court wasn't convinced of the necessity to do so, so he was released to his home.

Psychologist and alleged sexual assaulter Yuval Carmi, 66, was put under house arrest for 15 days on Tuesday pending indictment, Israeli media reported.Carmi's arrest was announced by the prosecution at the Jerusalem Magistrate Court where he appeared for a hearing earlier in the day.Israel Police requested that his arrest be extended by another seven days, but the court wasn't convinced of the necessity to do so, so he was released to his home.Two weeks ago, Carmi was arrested when a report of sexual assault reached Israel Police, one which he claims was a consensual sexual act.The psychologist's name became familiar to the public last week, at the request of the Police, in the hopes of encouraging more alleged victims to come out.It worked. Two other women came forward, one of them claiming that Carmi utilized the information he had from her as her trusted mental health professional to coerce her into sexual acts.One of his accusers is as young as 20, Walla noted.Carmi countered the rape accusation against him by claiming that the female patient was conscious at the time of the act, according to Carmi's lawyer Yehuda Shushan, Walla reported. According to the news site, Carmi also played a recording for the judge in which he argued that the accuser can be heard speaking about sexual relations that they had, implying that they happened with her consent.Eve Young contributed to this report.
