Who is Aly Raisman?
Aly Raisman is the talented gymnast and two-time Olympian who have helped the U.S. Gymnastics Teams to win many gold medals in World Championships. 
 
At the 2012 summer Olympics in London, Aly won gold medals in the team and floor competitions. She also won the bronze medal on the balance beam. At the Olympics in Rio de Janeiro in 2016, she and Gabby Douglas won gold medals in the team event making them the only Americans with back to back team golds. Aly also won silver medals in the individual all-around and floor exercise.

Aly Raisman is a Gemini. She was born on May 25, 1994, in Needham, Massachusetts, USA. Her mother name is Lynn Raisman and she was a high school Gymnast. Her father is Rick Raisman. Aly has two sisters, Chole, and Madison and one brother, Brett. She is Jewish and she said she feels proud to represent not only the USA but also the Jewish community. 
  • Training - At the age of two, Aly’s mom placed her in “mommy and me classes” and that’s when she started learning gymnastics.  She said her love for gymnastics came from the 1996 Summer Olympics when the US women team “the magnificent seven” won the gold medal.  She trained at Exxcel Gymnastics then later moved to Brestyan’s Gymnastics Club.
  • Education – Aly worked hard to balance her school work with her love for gymnastics. She completed her senior year at Needham High School via online classes because she was training for the Olympics. She graduated in 2012 and even attended her senior prom. Her mother was quoted as saying that:
“The gymnastics definitely takes priority, but she’s very good with keeping touch with her friends and staying normal.”
  • In November 2011, she gave up her NCAA eligibility and a scholarship to the University of Florida to become a professional athlete with the Octagon sports management firm.
  • In 2013, she attended Babson College in Wellesley, Massachusetts and returned to her professional career as a gymnast in 2014. 
     
  • 2009 
    • April – Aly Raisman competed at the American Classic in San Diego and was placed tenth in all-around. 
    • July – She competed at the US Classic in Iowa and was placed twelfth in all-around.
    • August – She was placed third in all-around at the National Championships in Dallas.
    • November – She competed at the Junior Pan American Championships in Brazil and was placed third in all-around and first on vault floor.
  • 2010 – 2016 
    • She participated in several games and won gold, silver, and bronze medals. For example, in May 2010, she helped the American team to win the gold medal at the Pacific Rim Championships in Melbourne, and in 2011 she competed at the 2011 World Artistic Championship in Tokyo.
    • Also, at the 2016 Olympic games in Rio, she helped her team to win gold once more with impressive performances on the vault. She shared the victory with her teammates Gabby Douglas, Hernandez, Kocian, and best friend Simone Biles. They dubbed themselves as “the final five.”

  • Aly Raisman, a six-time Olympic medalist, has won many awards throughout her career. In 2012 and 2016 she helped her team to win gold medals and she also won an individual gold medal for floor exercise. And, again in 2016, a silver medal for floor exercise while Simone Biles captured the gold.
  • She was featured in a documentary that was titled, “Aly Raisman: Quest for Gold” and was filmed for nine months on Comcast Sports Net. 
  • In 2018 she received the Arthur Ashe Courage Award for the sexual abuse scandal.

  • Relationship – Dated Colton Underwood from the Bachelorette between August 2016 – April 2017.
  • Brand Ambassador – Aly is an ambassador for UNICEF Kid Power, a brand that helps to promote children physical activities. 
  • Music Video – she co-starred in Maroon 5 music video entitled, “Girls like you.”
  • Dancing with the Stars – she received fourth place winning on season 16 of Dancing with the Stars.
  • Sexual Assault – Aly Raisman revealed that from the age of 15 she was molested by Larry Nassar, the former USA Gymnastics Team doctor. In March 2018, she filed a lawsuit against the US Olympic Committee and the US Gymnastic for failure to put in place the security measures to protect her and other athletes like McKayla Maroney and Gabby Douglas.
     
  • Sky Sports also reported that Aly Raisman and Simone Biles reported the abuse to USAG in 2015 but Nassar continued to abuse children as the company did not react to their report.  
     
  • Former five-times Olympic medalist, Nastia Liukin received several criticisms for her response to Aly Raisman’s sexual assault allegations. According to reports, Nastia Liukin found the allegations hilarious as she laughed when asked about her experience. She reported that she was not abused.
