ELNET, the European Leadership Network NGO dedicated to strengthening Europe-Israel relations based on shared democratic values and strategic interests, has announced the creation of an initiative to expose the truths about the atrocities that Hamas committed on October 7 as crimes against humanity.
Its actions, including murder, imprisonment, torture, rape and other forms of sexual violence, persecution against an identifiable group, enforced disappearance of persons, and other inhumane acts intentionally causing great suffering, are enumerated in Article 7 of the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court as constituting crimes against humanity.
The ELNET initiative is backed by legal experts and compelling evidence to expose Hamas’s crimes. As a first step, numerous figures in France, led by ELNET-Israel board member Dr. Sarah Fainberg, signed an op-ed published in Le Monde and signed by 47 leading French intellectuals urging Hamas’s massacre to be recognized as crimes against humanity.
The organization is calling upon all parties to publicly acknowledge Hamas’s acts as crimes against humanity, call for the immediate release of all hostages, regardless of their citizenship, urge state parties of the ICC to file complaints of crimes against humanity with the prosecutor of the ICC, and call for international organizations including the UN, the Human Rights Council, and other relevant bodies to pass resolutions regarding Hamas’s war crimes.
ELNET will be establishing a task force to further reveal the truth about Hamas committing crimes against humanity and holding Hamas and its regional and global supporters accountable for the October 7 massacre.
The story was written in cooperation with ELNET.
