Iranians stamped on an Israeli flag and set the flag alight on Wednesday during the funeral for the senior Revolutionary Guard commander killed in an alleged Israeli air strike in Syria.General Mohammad Allahdadi was killed in Sunday's helicopter strike in the Syrian province of Quneitra that also killed six Hezbollah fighters.The attacks have drawn strong condemnation from Iran and the killings raised the possibility of a retaliatory attack, with a senior Iranian official suggesting that Israel would be hit at "the right time and right place". An Israeli defense official said escalation was possible.Hundreds of Iranians took to the streets of Tehran, carrying Allahdadi's coffin aloft as they chanted during the funeral procession. Israeli flags were laid on the floor and stamped on and crowds set the flags alight.Iran has dispatched forces to aid Syrian President Bashar Assad as he faces an insurgency now dominated by Sunni Islamist groups.Lebanese sources close to Hezbollah said the slain Iranian general was an important figure in Iran's operations in Syria.
