NYT journalist accused of participating in October 7 attacks wins journalism award

The organization said they won for “chronicling Israel’s bombardment and invasion of their homeland, Gaza. The two photographed the conflict from its opening hours on Oct. 7."

Among the winners of the George Polk Awards is a journalist from The New York Times who is accused of being a member of Hamas and taking part in the October 7 massacre in Israel.

The journalist, named Yousef Masoud, has been accused by NGO Honest Reporting of being present at the October 7 massacre. He was awarded along with another freelance Times photojournalist named Samar Abu Elouf.

Israel to expand framework for hostage deal, Gallant tells McGurk ahead of Paris summit

It appeared that Mossad Chief David Barnea could be heading for talks in Paris, possibly as early as this weekend, which would also include officials from Qatar and Egypt.

Israel plans to expand the framework for a hostage deal, Defense Minister Yoav Gallant told US Middle East envoy Brett McGurk ahead of the latest pending summit on the captives led by CIA Director Willian Burns.

“We will widen the mandate for the officials involved in the negotiations on the hostages,” Gallant said when the two men met in Tel Aviv.

Gallant also underscored for McGurk that the IDF “will continue to expand its ground operation in Gaza.”

IDF strikes Lebanon, unconfirmed deaths or injuries - report

The IDF has conducted several strikes in the village of Remen, near the city of Nabatieh in Lebanon, according to reports from Arab media sources.

Israeli media sources citing the report gave varied numbers of deaths and injuries, from unconfirmed, to four dead and two injured.

IDF forms security plan allowing evacuees from South to return home

The IDF has formulated a security plan to allow more residents of the South who had to evacuate their homes during the beginning of the Gaza War, to start returning home, the IDF announced on Thursday.

Cities and areas in the South that were evacuated will receive the all-clear to return on an individual basis, and according to security assessments of the current situation.

The IDF said that the plan was made in a complete discussion with all the relevant officials of the Homefront command and heads of each regional authority.

The IDF has already twice allowed residents of communities close to the Gaza border to return to their homes if possible.

Houthis introduce 'submarine weapons' in attacks on vessels, say they will continue

Yemen's Iran-backed Houthis have introduced "submarine weapons" in their attacks on seagoing vessels, which they say they are carrying out in solidarity with the Palestinians in the Gaza War, their leader said on Thursday.

"Operations in the Red and Arabian Seas, Bab al-Mandab Starit, and the Gulf of Aden are continuing, escalating, and effective," Abdulmalik al-Houthi added in a televised speech.

Eight UNRWA employees arrested by Israel over Hamas ties

Out of approximately 12,000 UNRWA workers in Gaza, 440 are active in the military arm of Hamas, meaning terrorists currently fighting against the IDF.

Eight UNRWA employees working in the Gaza Strip have been arrested by the IDF due to connections to Hamas, according to a Maariv report on Thursday.

The report, which cites a secret document that has been obtained by Maariv, claimed that the employees have circumstantial evidence linking them directly with Hamas, and they have been transferred to Israel for further investigation.

Pro-Palestinian protesters and politicians responded in outrage on Wednesday when a United Kingdom parliamentary debate and vote on a Scottish National Party motion calling for a ceasefire in Gaza ended with the adoption of a Labour Party amendment.

The SNP had put forward a call "for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and Israel," condemned plans for an Israeli military assault on Rafah, called for the release of Hamas's Israeli hostages, demanded an "end to the collective punishment of the Palestinian people" and said that the only way to stop the slaughter of innocent civilians is to press for a ceasefire now."

'There may be progress in prisoner deal negotiations soon' - Hamas official

Yemen's Houthis 'ban' Israeli, US and British ships from Red Sea

Ships that are wholly or partially owned by Israeli individuals or entities and Israel-flagged vessels are banned from the Red Sea, Gulf of Aden, and the Arabian Sea, said statements from an agency controlled by Yemen's Houthi group seen by Reuters on Thursday.

The statements, sent to shipping insurers and firms from the Houthi's Humanitarian Operations Coordination Center, also said ships owned by US or British individuals or entities, or sailing under their flags, are also banned.

Israeli forces operate in West Bank village, probe terrorists' relatives

Israeli forces are operating in the village of Za'atar, located outside of Ma'ale Adumim, on Thursday afternoon, in response to the shooting done by terrorists in the same area earlier, according to Israeli media reports. 

The IDF activity includes the investigation and interrogation of the terrorists' family members in the village, from which the terrorists were suspected to have departed to carry out the attack that killed one person.
