A US official told ABC News that it was likely that the fire in Rafah, which officials from the Hamas-run Gaza Health Ministry claimed killed 45 people, was a result of shrapnel igniting a fuel tank.
The Israeli airstrike, which allegedly caused the shrapnel to ignite the fuel tank, killed two senior Hamas officials.

Sirens sounded near Israel's southern territories in Eilat and surrounding locations when two hostile aircraft were nearing Israel's border from the south.
No damage or injuries have been reported.
Both UAVs were successfully intercepted before crossing the border, the IDF later reported.
