US officials worry Israel will drag America into war against Hezbollah - CBS

An official said that the administration had been working toward lowering the risk that US troops face in Syria, Iraq and Jordan.

The Biden administration has become increasingly concerned that the increasing conflict and rocket exchanges between Israel and Hezbollah could expand through the region, anonymous US officials told CBS News on Friday.

An official said that the administration had been working toward lowering the risk that US troops face in Syria, Iraq, and Jordan. 

Additionally, diplomatic advisor Amos Hochstein is heading to Israel on Monday with the reported purpose of trying to de-escalate tensions before they spread throughout the region.

IDF engages in fierce fighting in Rafah - report

According to the Gazan news source, clashes and explosions were heard in the western area of the city.

The IDF engaged in extensive activity in the southern Gazan city of Rafah on Saturday morning. Fierce fighting is reported. 

Safa, a Hamas-affiliated news outlet based in Gaza, reported that Israeli artillery and helicopters fired in the area of the Saudi neighborhood west of Rafah.

According to the Gazan news source, clashes and explosions were heard in the city's western area.

United States President Joe Biden, said at an event for influencers at the White House last week that he sent $26 billion in aid to Israel to bolster security for the Jewish state. The president added that he was also putting pressure on Israel.

"First of all, Israel's security in the region is essential," Biden said. "I am pressuring the Israelis to withdraw and open more humanitarian transits, and I think we are getting closer."

"'The Al-Aqsa Flood' started for the third holiest site in Islam, and the rituals of Hajj are an opportunity to remind the two-billion-strong Muslim nation of the reality of our struggle with our enemy, who who is violating the site of the Messenger of God and perpetrates corruption and Judaization in it every day."

The United States is waiting for Israel to announce the completion of its military operation in the southern Gaza city of Rafah before proceeding with hostage-ceasefire deal negotiations, the Hezbollah-affiliated Lebanese news outlet Al-Ahkbar reported on Saturday morning.

Talks had hit a snag after Hamas proposed alterations to the Biden administration's multi-phased plan to bring about an end to the war.

According to President Joe Biden, Hamas was the party preventing a deal from coming to fruition.

WATCH: IDF strikes Hezbollah structures in southern Lebanon

IDF fighter jets struck a Hezbollah military structure on Friday in the area of Kfarkela in southern Lebanon, near the area from which rockets were fired toward Metula earlier that day, the IDF reported on Saturday morning.

Following sirens early on Saturday morning in the area of Tzivon in northern Israel, two rockets were identified crossing from Lebanon into the area of Mount Meron, the military added. No injuries were reported.

Four firefighting teams combat fire in northern Israel after Friday night rocket attacks

The Fire and Rescue Authority reported on Saturday morning that four firefighting teams were battling a fire in an open area between Bar'am and Yiron.

According to the reports, there was danger to Yiron at the time. "Since early [Friday] afternoon, firefighters have been working to extinguish several fires near Bar'am caused by rockets," the statement said. "Further updates will be provided as necessary."
