Countries around the world, including leading Arab nations, those in the G7, and the European Union, want a halt to hostilities between Israel and Hezbollah along Israel's northern border with Lebanon, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said on Thursday.
Asked about Israel's rejection of a US-backed Lebanon ceasefire proposal, Blinken told MSNBC, "The world is speaking clearly for virtually all of the key countries in Europe and in the region on the need for the ceasefire."
He added that he would be meeting with Israeli officials in New York later on Thursday.

The Lebanese Hezbollah-affiliated news outlet Al Mayadeen claimed four had been killed and others were wounded as a result of the strike.
The IDF conducted precise strikes on a target in the Lebanese capital of Beirut on Thursday, the IDF stated.
According to Israel's Army Radio, the attack targeted the commander of Hezbollah's drone unit and hit a specific floor of a multi-story building in Beirut's Dahieh.
Israel has yet to comment on whether the strike was successful. The Lebanese Hezbollah-affiliated news outlet Al Mayadeen claimed four had been killed and others were wounded as a result of the strike.

"This week, we are making a significant offensive effort, with strikes that are taking away a lot of [Hezbollah's] capabilities and means," Home Front Command Commander Maj.-Gen. Rafi Milo said to the heads of northern municipalities, the IDF reported Thursday.
"This cooperation with the municipality, as well as with emergency organizations, the Israel Police, Fire and Rescue Services, and Magen David Adom is a force multiplier and truly allows us to respond to any event very quickly," the general added.
In the last few days, Maj.-Gen. Milo met with the heads of northern municipalities, including Haifa, Tirat Carmel, the Jezreel Valley Regional Council, and Daliyat al-Karmel where he stressed the importance of continuous communication with the civilian sector to enhance emergency preparedness.
Additionally, the general visited the underground center at Rambam Medical Center, accompanied by the hospital's director, Dr. Michael Halberthal, and the Home Front Command's medical department head, Colonel Dr. Liron Gershovitz, to reinforce medical and operational readiness for any emergency scenarios.
