Jerusalem mayor calls for increased security after alleged stabbing attack

Jerusalem Mayor Moshe Lion announced that security around educational institutions and neighborhoods in Jerusalem will be reinforced immediately, following the alleged stabbing attack in Amon Hanatziv Wednesday morning.A young woman reported that a man, whom she described as an Arab, stabbed her near her home in the Armon Hanatziv neighborhood of Jerusalem on Wednesday morning.The girl claimed that she was waiting at a bus station on her way to school when the assailant stabbed her neck and hand and fled, The Jerusalem Post's sister publication, Maariv, reported.Following the alleged stabbing attack, the young woman returned home and called Magen David Adom (MDA)."We entered the apartment and saw a girl of about 15, agitated and fully conscious," MDA paramedics reported after the incident. "She had several injuries on her upper body and claimed she had been attacked on the street."She was taken to the hospital for medical treatment. The background of the event is unclear and an investigation is underway, the police reported.This is a developing story.
