Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu discussed war objectives for the coming year in an address to Defense Minister Israel Katz, IDF Chief-of-Staff Lt.-Gen. Eyal Zamir, during a meeting with members of the IDF General Staff Forum in Tel Aviv on Monday.
Netanyahu urged that in pursuit of achieving security and overcoming Israel’s enemies, “we need to destroy the Iranian axis… this is what stands before us in the coming year, which could be a historic year for the security of Israel.”
War objectives are 'within our means'
The defeat of the Iranian axis of terror proxies across the region “is within our means,” said the prime minister.
He highlighted that one focus for the upcoming year is bringing about a conclusion to the ongoing Israel-Hamas War, “the elimination of Hamas, and the release of our hostages, or in ensuring that Gaza never gains constitutes a threat to Israel.”
Netanyahu thanked the IDF General Staff Forum for their efforts and for the great successes achieved his the past year, successes that often did not come easily.
“It has been shown to be a magnificent generation that has made many painful sacrifices,” said Netanyahu, also lamenting “great sacrifices and heroism of this generation, which many have eulogized.”
To achieve the war objectives and defeat of the Iranian axis, Netanyahu instructed that the feat would “demand two basic qualities: Unity in moments of crisis, and determination in every moment.”
The prime minister concluded his speech with a toast: "May we have a year of security, victory, and unity. Happy New Year."
