Three Palestinians were slightly injured during an Israeli settler extremist attack on the West Bank village of Surif overnight on Saturday, according to an Army Radio report.
The extremists allegedly set fire to buildings and cars and attacked Palestinians with clubs and tear gas, in addition to spray-painting threatening graffiti on buildings.
According to Army Radio, IDF troops were dispatched to the area shortly after the attack to search for suspects and collect evidence. The troops located the burned vehicles and graffiti, but no arrests in connection with the attack have been made.
Israel Police also opened an investigation into the incident, Army Radio stated, and officers from the Judea and Samaria District have begun collecting evidence and testimonies.
Investigations into settler extremism result in arrests
On Wednesday, security officials arrested an Israeli resident of the West Bank for allegedly participating in a similar violent extremist attack on Palestinians in Huwara in June.
In the June Huwara attack, several Palestinians were hospitalized for treatment of injuries inflicted by the extremist settlers, many of whom were reportedly wearing masks to hide their identities.
On Monday, the IDF deployed two extra battalions to the West Bank in an effort to curb recent escalation in extremist settler violence and Palestinian terrorist attacks.
