Five people were killed in road accidents across Israel between Saturday and Sunday, including a woman in her 50s who died in a four-vehicle pile-up car accident near Atlit on Sunday morning.
The accident occured on Route 2 near Atlit. Magen David Adom paramedics pronounced her dead and treated six other people at the scene, including a man in his 60s who was seriously injured but conscious with a head injury. Five others were lightly injured.
The crash caused a traffic jam stretching for several kilometers on northbound Route 2 before the Zichron Ya'acov Interchange. Police closed the road and redirected drivers to Route 4.
Two men killed in crash on Route 854
A day earlier, two men in their 30s were killed, and another man in his 30s was seriously injured in a collision involving two vehicles on Route 854 near Lapidot.
MDA teams who arrived at the scene found the two men unconscious and suffering from multiple injuries. After carrying out resuscitation efforts, paramedics were forced to pronounce them dead.
Medical teams evacuated the seriously injured man to Galilee Medical Center in Nahariya. He was in a state of reduced consciousness and suffering from multiple injuries.
Foreign worker killed while riding all-terrain vehicle
Also on Saturday, a foreign worker in her 40s was killed in a hit-and-run after she was struck by a vehicle while riding an all-terrain vehicle near Tzochar in the Eshkol Regional Council.
MDA teams provided medical treatment at the scene before evacuating her to Soroka Medical Center in Beersheba with multiple injuries. She was later pronounced dead at the hospital.
Police investigators worked to locate the driver who fled the scene and investigated the circumstances of the crash.
Elderly man killed in three-vehicle collision on Route 4
On Sunday, a 93-year-old man was killed in a three-vehicle collision on Route 4 near Ra'anana Junction.
MDA medical teams treated him at the scene before he was evacuated to Meir Medical Center in serious condition. He was conscious and suffering from a head injury when he was taken to the hospital.
He was pronounced dead shortly after arriving at the medical center.
