Two suspects planning a terror attack against Israeli citizens were arrested on Monday in a joint operation conducted by Israel Police's Counterterrorism Unit (YAMAM) and the Shin Bet (Israel Security Agency).
Security forces used intelligence provided by the Shin Bet to locate the terrorists, who were found unarmed on Highway 1 near the Latrun Interchange.
The suspects were arrested and transferred to the Shin Bet for interrogation.
No security forces were injured.
Terror attacks have declined in the last two years, data shows
The Shin Bet foiled in July a total of 532 terror attack attempts, according to data released by the organization and the Foreign Ministry. Of those, 582 were in the West Bank, and four were in Israel.
Despite this, major terror attacks decreased by 70% from 2024 to 2025, and by 60% from 2025 to 2026, the data noted.
