1. WEATHER GONE WILD
In the new fantasy/disaster film Geostorm from director Dean Devlin (Independence Day, Stargate), Gerard Butler plays a stubborn but charming satellite designer who, when the world’s climate-controlling satellites malfunction, must work together with his estranged brother to save the world from a manmade storm of epic proportions. With Jim Sturgess, Abbie Cornish, Ed Harris, Andy Garcia.
2. THE CON GOES ON
Downton Abbey star Michelle Dockery, who plays career con artist Letty Raines, is back to being her best worst self as the American TV drama series Good Behavior returns for Season 2. This season finds Letty and Javier settling in a quaint beach town. Only, Letty is still stealing and Javier is still killing.

3. PASSION TAKES FLIGHT
St. Matthew’s Passion 2727 is a new dance oratorio choreographed by Tamir Ginz for the Kamea Dance Company, inspired by Bach’s St. Matthew Passion (BWV 244). The audience will be confronted aurally and visually by emotions familiar to people all over the world: suffering and envy, grief and betrayal. These emotions take shape in the voice and form of well known characters: in dance interpretations of the arias of Judas and Peter, Pontius Pilate and Jesus.

4. GETTING COZY WITH CODY
American R&B/soul artist Cody Chesnutt brings his retro sounds and vibes to Tel Aviv’s Barby Club. His 2002 debut album The Headphone Masterpiece featured the hit single “The Seed” which, when covered by Grammy winners The Roots as “The Seed 2.0,” introduced Cody and his music to a whole new audience. In 2006, Chesnutt appeared in the music documentary Dave Chappelle’s Block Party with his song “Parting Ways.”

5. BEYOND THE FRINGE
The Tmuna Theater in Tel Aviv kicks off its annual Tmuna Festival, presenting premieres and highlights from its past year of creation. Each evening has a program that features dance or theater, as well as a live musical performance. The festival includes performances from Germany, Poland and the US.

6. BIG IN JAPAN
The second annual Japanese Film Festival, called the Aki-Nu (Autumn) Festival, will be held at the cinematheques in Holon, Tel Aviv, Haifa, Herzliya and Jerusalem. The festival, created and programmed by the Holon Cinematheque, will present the best of contemporary Japanese cinema. The festival will feature films in various genres, such as fiction, documentary, animation, suspense and horror. There will also be an arts programs highlighting Japanese culture.

7. ART ALIVE IN JERUSALEM
Exhibition galleries, museums and artists in Jerusalem are gearing up for the vibrant annual art event Manofim. During its four days, there will be a wide range of arts and entertainment activities taking place all over the city, such as Nahlaot, Musrara, the Old City, Jaffa Road, Mishkenot Sha’ananim, Ein Kerem and Talpiot. A shuttle service will be available to transport visitors to the various venues.

8. RISE OF THE ROBOTS
Spanish choreographer Blanca Li brings her acclaimed Robot to Tel Aviv. In this multimedia show created in collaboration with Japanese performanceart collective Maywa Denki, eight dancers share the stage with a mechanical orchestra of self-playing instruments and seven small humanoid nao robots, each with its own personality. Robot is a highly intelligent and hilarious opus in which man and machine interact.

9. RUN, TEL AVIV, RUN!
For all those sporty night owls out there, AM:PM City Market is sponsoring a 10-kilometer nocturnal race in Tel Aviv on October 31. It begins at Rabin Square and continues south along Ibn Gvirol Street and the center of town. Participants will receive a running kit with the race’s T-shirt (“Made for Running”), a number and a measuring chip. The race begins at 8:30 p.m.

10. IN THE MOOD FOR OUD
The 18th edition of the annual International Oud Festival takes place under the auspices of Confederation House in Jerusalem and its director Effie Benaya. The program includes an impressive variety of musicians from Israel and abroad, such as Armenian-American oud player Ara Dinkjian (pictured) and his trio; Indian sarod player Amjad Ali Khan; and flute and nai player/vocalist Amir Shahsar.
The concerts will take place at Confederation House, the Jerusalem Theatre and Beit Shmuel.
