Israel Police announced the detention of a suspect who is being investigated for an attempted ramming occured at a checkpoint in the West Bank near Jerusalem on Tuesday afternoon. 

The suspect turned himself in hours after the incident, where he fled the scene and was promptly pursued by IDF soldiers. No injuries were reported. 

A short time later, police at the Etzion Station near Beit Jala, just over 10km north of the checkpoint where the attempted ramming occured, approached a car stopped on the side of the road.

When police attempted to inspect the car, the driver reversed, hitting the police car, and then fled the scene, pursued by police and IDF soldiers. Per the police report, the driver was heading toward Bethlehem.

Four Arab Israeli citizens were arrested on suspicion of planning a terror attack targeting IDF soldiers in Karmiel, Israeli law enforcement authorities said on Monday.

In a joint statement by Israel Police and the Shin Bet (Israel Security Agency), it was revealed that four suspects from northern Israel, including two minors, were suspected of having conspired to commit a shooting attack against IDF soldiers in Karmiel.

Some of the suspects had already been trained and prepared to carry out the attack, the police stated.
