In minutes during the major IDF attacks on Hezbollah on April 8, the military devastated Hezbollah, killing hundreds of its fighters and destroying dozens of its key command centers, a senior IDF intelligence official said on Monday.
It is rare that IDF intelligence officials make public statements, but with the Lebanon war potentially wrapping up soon, the military seemed poised to try to take a victory lap regarding its accomplishments.
According to the senior IDF intelligence official, every major strategic war-fighting area of Hezbollah was deeply harmed during the attacks, which spanned Beirut, the Bekaa Valley, and southern Lebanon.
The official said that the IDF continues to reveal additional Hezbollah fighters and officials who were killed as more time passes.
During the attacks, the IDF said that it killed around 250 Hezbollah terrorists during the short, but lethal minutes long attack.
IDF notes several Hezbollah commanders killed during strikes
The IDF also listed several specific commanders of intelligence collection, aerial threats, and a Hezbollah high command official in charge of logistics, who were killed during the attacks.
Hezbollah artillery and Radwan force commanders were also hit in significant numbers.
The 250 Hezbollah fighters killed brought the total number for the war to over 1,400.
IDF hits 150 Hezbollah targets in 24-hour period, military announces
Meanwhile, the military announced that it struck approximately 150 Hezbollah terror targets in the past 24 hours, in a Monday evening statement.
The targets included rocket launchers and drones, as well as military structures, anti-tank missile launch points, and terror command centers.
Additionally, the IDF struck terror cells attempting to carry out attacks against the IDF.
These targets were located across southern Lebanon, the military said.
