The IDF conducted an operation in southern Lebanon before the ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon came into effect, the military announced on Wednesday.

According to the IDF, the operation was conducted around Dibbin, approximately 12 km inside Lebanese territory, by the 91st Division, in coordination with the Israeli Air Force.

"During the operation, troops engaged a Hezbollah compound in the area, wherein terrorist activity had been identified, and intelligence indicated attempts to carry out attacks against IDF soldiers and Israeli civilians," the IDF claimed.

Over 70 targets were struck, the military said, and over 20 terrorists were killed, in both close-quarters combat and in airstrikes.

Hezbollah violates ceasefire with Israel

On Tuesday, the IDF stated that Hezbollah had violated the current ceasefire by firing rockets towards Israeli troops operating in southern Lebanon, and added that the military had then struck the launcher from which the rockets were launched.

Hezbollah later claimed that it had launched the rockets at Israeli forces "in response to more than 200 flagrant violations by the Israeli enemy since the ceasefire went into effect."
