Amer Hujirat, a Defense Ministry civilian contractor in southern Lebanon, was killed in a drone strike on Tuesday, Ziv Medical Center in Safed reported Wednesday.

Hujirat, 44, from Shfaram, was killed when a Hezbollah drone exploded near him. It also lightly wounded his 19-year-old son, who was working with him.

The incident was the latest in a series of challenges for the IDF posed by Hezbollah in southern Lebanon. The terrorist group has been using fiber-optic “wire drones.” They cannot be electronically jammed, because they are controlled via a fiber-optic wire rather than radio waves or satellite navigation.
