Ketziot prisoner pulls out blade day after Hamas inmates stab two guards
Two Hamas inmates stabbed two Israeli guards in Keziot prison on Sunday evening.

A security prisoner tried to stab a guard with a blade at Ketziot Prison on Monday, where two guards were stabbed by Hamas inmates the day before, the Prison Authority spokesperson reported.The guards seized the home-made weapon and prevented any injury.Of the two guards wounded in the Sunday stabbing, one was evacuated by helicopter in critical condition to the Soroka University Medical Center in Beersheba. His condition is now stable, and he was able to telephone his family. The second guard was lightly wounded.The Soroka hospital stated that there were 14 people injured in the incident, of whom seven remain hospitalized: the two prison guards and five inmates – two severely wounded, one moderately wounded and two lightly wounded.Internal Security Minister Gilad Erdan, who oversees the Israel Police and Prison Services, commented: “We will continue to fight terrorism within the prison system and fight to prevent the direction of terrorist attacks on Israeli citizens from within the prisons.”“I wish for a speedy recovery for the Israel Prison Service guards who were wounded, and stand by the [IPS] guards, who act resolutely when facing terrorists,” he added.Ketziot Prison, called Ansar 3 by Palestinians, is located near Nitzana and the Sinai border.Alon Hochman/Maariv contributed to this report.
