The state has decided to grant draft evaders living abroad and those living abroad without permission the right to return to Israel temporarily for the holidays without being arrested or prosecuted, according to the IDF Spokesperson's Unit.
The arrangement applies to anyone who enters Israel from September 9 and requires that they leave Israel before October 31.
During this period, these individuals will have the opportunity to change their official status via the IDF.
According to the IDF Spokesperson's Unit, a similar arrangement was organized for Israel's 70th independence day which resulted in dozens of civilians adjusting their statuses with the IDF, leading to some integrating into the IDF.
Additionally, defectors from reserve duty in the IDF will receive a one-time opportunity to arrange their status and return to proper service.
