Campaign posters by the Kulanu Party were vandalized Monday overnight by LOTAM, a feminism activist group, which defines itself as "the Gender Counter-Terrorism Unit."The group smeared the number 26 over Kulanu head and Finance Minister Moshe Kahlon's face on the billboards, also covering his eyes and mouth with black paint, accusing him of withholding funds from causes that fight violence against women.26 represents the number of female domestic violence victim's killed in 2018."In the last Knesset, an unthinkable number of women were murdered by men, and the vast majority of them cried out for help, but the institutions ignored, devalued, reduced, humiliated (them)," the group wrote, adding that "until there was social outcry, the state and its leaders, in particular Finance Minister Kahlon, didn't bother to transfer the promised funds for the treatment and prevention of violence against women."LOTAM said that due to the election cycle funds were frozen once again and that the government and Kahlon turned a blind eye to women being murdered.The activists also spray painted temporary construction walls with the phrase "Demeaning women = Danger!" and "We exist."The group's statement went on to attack the finance minister saying that "his arrogant face and the arrogance with which he promotes himself to continue representing a population, that for the most part (50.7%) he doesn't care about, hurts our feelings."LOTAM said that "if he abandons the most basic security of women - his place is not in the Knesset."
