Jon Rudnitsky, a Jewish stand-up comic and nephew of MK Michael Oren, will be joining the new cast of iconic American late-night comedy show Saturday Night Live for it’s 41st season, NBC reported last week.
“I am proud and thrilled that my nephew Jon Rudnitsky has been selected to join the cast of one of America’s premier comedy shows, Saturday Night Live,” Oren announced on his personal Facebook page on Friday.
“Jon is an extremely talented comedian who has kept us laughing since he was in kindergarten,” he boasted, as any proud uncle would.
Oren said Rudnitsky has visited Israel many times for family events and also came on Taglit-Birthright Israel.
Rudnitsky won the 2012 Laugh Factory Laugh Bowl, a college comedy contest, and participated in this year’s “New Faces showcase” at Montreal’s Just for Laughs festival, NBC said.
He built a significant fan base on YouTube after his parodies of House of Cards and True Detective went viral.
Rudnitsky, who will join the show as a featured player, grew up in Harrington Park, New Jersey, and graduated from the University of Southern California.
