Reggae artists Sly & Robbie cancel Jerusalem show due to Hurricane Irma
Sly & Robbie’s concert will be replaced with a performance by Jamaican reggae artists Horace Andy and Michael Prophet.

Due to circumstances surrounding Hurricane Irma, famous reggae musicians and dub masters Sly & Robbie have canceled their performance at the Tower of David Museum this Thursday as part of the Jerusalem Sacred Music Festival. Sly & Robbie released a statement saying that their flights were canceled from Kingston to Miami on the way to New York. In addition, several of their band members live in South Florida, which is right in the path of Irma, and are actively getting ready to protect their families and their homes.They added that “we were really looking forward to visit the wonderful people and holy land of Israel and are extremely disappointed. Together with the superb staff of the Mekudeshet Festival, whose kindness and understanding are beyond words, we will work had to come as soon as it is possible and share a wonderful moment of music and culture with you all.”Sly & Robbie’s concert will be replaced with a performance by Jamaican reggae artists Horace Andy and Michael Prophet. Andy is known for his distinctive vocals and hit songs such as “Government Land,” as well as “Angel” and “Five Man Army” with English trip hop duo Massive Attack. Prophet is a roots reggae singer known for his “crying” tenor vocal style, whose recording career began in 1977.
