The Jewish Agency for Israel honored 1,200 emissaries who returned to Israel after extended service throughout the world, in which they represented the country in Jewish communities, youth movements and campuses abroad.At an event at Tel Aviv Port on Tuesday under the banner “the Mission is Just the Beginning,” JAFI chairman Isaac Herzog told the emissaries that they had more work to do.“Your great mission did not end with your return home from the Jewish communities abroad, where you represented Israel,” Isaac Herzog said. “You are now bringing the Diaspora’s word to Israel.”JAFI emissaries strengthen Jewish identity and connection to Israel, and serve as role models to the communities in which they serve. The event, whose purpose was to help integrate the returning representatives into positions of influence and leadership in Israeli society, included stimulating workshops and personal meetings with representatives from the public and business sectors.Among those who came to inspire and meet with the emissaries were: JAFI chairman Isaac Herzog; Deloitte Israel chairman Ilan Birnfeld; CEO of Darkenu Polly Bronstein; CEO of Adler Chomsky Amir Guy; Hod Hasharon Mayor Amir Kochavi; CEO of Masa Liran Avisar Ben Horin; vice president of the Arison Foundation Kaynan Rabino; founder of Yotpo, Omri Cohen; director of JAFI’s shlichim unit Yehuda Setton; media professionals Zvika Klein and Nurit Kanti; Eliran Malka, creator and director of the hit TV series Shababnikim; and musician and singer Marina Maximilian.The event concluded with a performance by composer and singer Ivri Lider and DJ Tomer Meisner.
