Israel's national rhythmic gymnastics team continued its sensational form with another gold medal on Sunday, finishing in first place in the ribbons final at the Thiais Grand Prix in France.
After getting the new season off to an impressive start last month by claiming two bronze medals in the first Grand Prix event of the year in Moscow, the team of Yuval Filo, Alona Koshevatskiy, Ekaterina Levina, Karina Lykhvar and Ida Mayrin registered a score of 17.9 in the ribbons final to finish ahead of Belarus and Ukraine.
Israel ended the all-around competition in fifth place overall. The blue-and-white women booked their place at the Rio Olympics last December after ending the individual all-around final at the World Championships in Stuttgart, Germany in seventh place.
Medals are only awarded in the all-around event at the Olympics.
The team will compete in Israel on Thursday, participating in the national championships at Malha Arena in Jerusalem. The 32nd European Rhythmic Gymnastics Championships will be held in Holon in June.
