A Petah Tikva man in his 40s allegedly stabbed his wife to death and wounded their 17-year-old son on Thursday during a domestic dispute before trying to take his own life. While details of the attack remain unclear, according to police the 42-year-old suspect repeatedly stabbed his spouse, who was in her 30s, shortly before 9 a.m. in their Shalom Tsalah Street apartment following a heated argument.“Police and EMT’s arrived at the apartment immediately after receiving an emergency call and rushed the woman, who was in critical condition, to Beilinson Hospital where she later died from her wounds,” said Police spokesman Micky Rosenfeld.“The son was lightly injured from a stab wound while trying to defend her, and taken to the hospital as well, while the husband remains in serious condition from self-inflicted knife wounds,” he added.Police said the family was known by area social workers, but did not elaborate further.According to local reports, the husband suspected his wife of infidelity and repeatedly stabbed her in the upper body before turning the knife on his son and himself.“Based on forensic evidence, it is clear that he stabbed her and then attempted to take his own life,” said Rosenfeld, adding, “The investigation into the incident will continue.”
