Despite the inclement weather, thousands of pelicans continued migrating over the Hula Valley northward to their nesting areas in the Black Sea in Romania.
Visited by more than half a billion birds during the migrating season, the Hula Valley is a known stopping point for birds flying from Africa to Europe on their way to warmer places.
The valley was selected by BBC Wildlife as one of the 10 most important nature observation points on earth in 2009.
