A two-year-old toddler was seriously injured when he was bitten by his family's dog Thursday morning in Netanya.
The boy was taken to Laniado Hospital in the city.
A preliminary investigation revealed that the dog, a German Shepherd, attacked the boy in the house courtyard and bit him multiple times. Police began an investigation to determine the circumstances leading to the incident. The dog was put in quarantine by the municipal veterinary service.
A Magen David Adom team alerted to the scene gave the child preliminary medical treatment. Israel Radio reported that the child suffered cuts and bite wounds all over his body and was suffering from hypothermia.
A Laniado Hospital spokesman said the boy was taken for a computer tomography (CT) scan after which his doctors will decide how to continue treatment.
