Drivers parking their cars in Eilat will no longer have the bother of seeking out a parking card machine after the city joined the electronic car-parking revolution this week, reports www.mynet.co.il. Drivers will now be able to use their cellphones to pay for their parking electronically after Eilat became the 34th Israeli city to join the Pango (Park and Go) system.
According to the report, the service enables drivers to call or SMS *4500 and pay the local parking rate - in Eilat's case, NIS 4 per hour - instead of buying a parking card and attaching it to their windscreens. Parking inspectors use electronic devices to check if a car's parking fee has been paid.
