Some 20 Palestinians successfully breached military checkpoints to enter the Jenin refugee camp in the West Bank, the IDF said on Saturday afternoon.
IDF sources said dozens broke through barricades set up by the military in the Palestinian city surrounding the refugee camp, designated as a closed military zone.
Over 10 Palestinian suspects detained after breaching IDF checkpoints
At least 11 Palestinians were detained by Israeli forces operating in the area, sources said, while an official IDF statement noted most of the suspects have been apprehended. All of them are currently being questioned by the Shin Bet.
At the same time, IDF forces continue to carry out searches in the area in an effort to locate additional suspects, while the circumstances of their arrival are still under investigation.
Security forces, led by the Civil Administration, carry out coordinated entries into the area for Palestinian civilians to collect equipment and belongings. In this case, the entry was carried out without prior coordination.
