✱ Music for tense times – Hyperion records have released more than 300 albums for free online streaming.

During these intense days, it might be a good idea to try to catch a breath with the cello sonatas of Dmitri Shostakovich and Dmitry Kabalevsky or choral music by Charles Villiers Stanford as sung by the Choir of Trinity College.

One inspiring work by Stanford that readers might enjoy is “For Lo, I Raise Up.” Originally composed during the Great War, it is moving and uplifting.
