Negotiators missed another deadline for reaching a deal on Iran’s nuclear program this week. Special guest Amos Yadlin, the IDF’s Former Defense intelligence chief, says Israel’s military option is very much "alive," but may not be necessary; reaching a deal for even 20 years may be good enough, because the Islamic Republic may not be around that long.
“I think the regime is doomed. I cannot promise you that it will disappear in two years or five years, but 20 years, I'm quite sure the regime will not be there,” he says, noting the immense internal pressure from a young, economically deprived population.
Then, a controversial bill to codify Israel as the nation-state of the Jewish people has made international headlines and caused yet another stir in the shaky government coalition. Dr. Amir Fuchs from the Israel Democracy Institute explains what’s wrong with the bill and how it could be fixed.
