One of the world's most successful pop stars is coming to Israel, and on Monday she showed her appreciation for the Israeli fans that will come out in droves to see her in Tel Aviv.Lady Gaga’s concert in Israel on September 13 will go on as planned, her management announced Sunday, after a summer of canceled high-profile concerts, from Neil Young to the Backstreet Boys to Lana Del Rey.She released a video on Monday with a special "Shalom" greeting for her fans in Israel.The provocative pop star’s international tour “artRave: The ARTPOP Ball” will bring the post-war party spirit to Tel Aviv’s Hayarkon Park, where she will perform songs from her latest album, like “Applause” and “G.U.Y.”The concert is also set to take place 10 days before the release of Cheek to Cheek, a jazz album she recorded with Tony Bennett.Bennett is set to perform in Tel Aviv the day after Lady Gaga, sparking rumors that the two may perform their first duet from their upcoming album at one of the two concerts in Israel.“I’m proud and happy that Lady Gaga will come to Israel as planned,” Israeli concert producer Udi Appleboim said. “It is an honor to host her for a historic concert.”Appleboim added that the show will be unforgettable, and that tens of thousands of Israeli Lady Gaga fans are expected to arrive.Concert tickets are still on sale through the Leean ticket agency.The BDS movement made minimal efforts to prevent Gaga’s concert from taking place.
An online petition to stop the singer from performing in Israel garnered only 1,339 signatures.The Tel Aviv performance will be Gaga’s second concert in Israel. The first was in 2009, at Non-Stop Musix, a two-day festival sponsored by Pelephone.Lady Gaga’s latest tour already sold 775,000 tickets in 35 cities around the world and includes set changes and complex choreography and several costumes – including a polka- dot octopus suit and giant gold wings (but not her infamous dress made of raw meat).
