IT’S NEVER TOO LATE
The film Elsa and Fred is the story of two people who discover that it’s never too late to love and make dreams come true. Elsa (Shirley MacLaine) has lived for the past 60 years dreaming of a moment from La Dolce Vita. Fred (Christopher Plummer) had always done everything he was supposed to do. After losing his wife, he moves into a smaller apartment, where he meets Elsa and surrenders to her boldness and her beautiful madness. When he learns about Elsa’s terminal illness, he decides to take her to Rome.

RITA RETURNS
Popular singer Rita celebrates the 20th anniversary of her iconic album and tour Big Love by bringing it back to stages around the country. She will sing all her greatest hits from the show, as well as from other albums she has released since.

3 BONDING WITH THE KIDS
Kesher, The Home for Special Families organization will hold a fund-raising event at the Smolarz Auditorium on the Tel Aviv University campus. The show will be emceed by actor-director Norman Issa.
Prior to the show, guests can view an art exhibition in the lobby, which comprises various artistic renditions of the word kesher (“connection/bond”) created by a number of celebrities. The impressive roster of concert performers includes rock icon Shalom Hanoch with longtime sidekick Moshe Levy, X-Factor star Daniel Amit and 13-year-old poet Eyal Shachar, who has a developmental coordination disorder called dyspraxia.

The Israel Philharmonic Orchestra presents a concert with veteran singersongwriter Boaz Sharabi. Musical director and conductor Raffi Kadishzon wrote the arrangements for Sharabi’s greatest hits.

SOUND BODIES
Jaffa Port’s Warehouse 2 hosts an intriguing multidisciplinary event in the framework of Yotzer Otzer (“A curator creates”), hosted by Arkadi Zaides. He will also present his solo work Sound Bodies, which includes music performed by a string quartet.

6 ART WORDS AND IMAGES
Beit Hansen, a thriving multimedia and art center in Jerusalem, opens its doors to Voice of the Word Festival. With previous themes such as recipes, grandmothers and letters, this year’s theme goes deeper and darker with the subject of the dybbuk (described in Jewish mythology as a malicious possessing spirit believed to be the dislocated soul of a deceased person). Curated by Biran and Sala-Manca Collective members Diego Rotman and Lea Mauas.

7 TALK ABOUT CLOTHES
The Israel Museum, Jerusalem’s exhibition “Dress Codes: Revealing the Jewish Wardrobe” has been extended to January 3.
The exhibition offers a spectacular range of international Jewish clothing from the 19th century on, presenting a multicultural view of the Jewish wardrobe and examining its significance and its influences on the fashions of today. Miki Joelson, assistant to the chief curator for Jewish Art and Life, will present a gallery talk in English on Wednesday at 11 a.m. Meet at the exhibition.

HUMOR THEM
The new exhibition at the Israeli Children’s Museum in Holon “What Is Funny,” situated in the At Eye Level Center (for children age three to nine), explores humor – from clowns and Charlie Chaplin to caricatures and illustrations. The tours led by museum guides include hands-on experience.
Tours are available in Hebrew, English, Spanish, Portuguese and Russian.

FUNNY GIRL
Comedian Sarah Silverman, known for her take-no-prisoners, foul-mouthed comedy routines, is coming to Israel for the Jerusalem Jewish Film Festival, which will run from December 16 to 23 at the Jerusalem Cinematheque.
The two-time Emmy winner will attend a screening of her HBO comedy special Sarah Silverman: We Are Miracles. She will take questions from the audience and receive a prize from the festival for her work in comedy and films.
Silverman will attend a press conference on December 18.

10 DANCE
BRINGING BUTOH BACK TO TA
Paris and Tokyo-based dance company Sankai Juku will visit Israel next month, 10 years since the Butoh troupe last performed in the country. Led by artistic director Ushio Amagatsu, Sankai Juku is the leading Butoh company in the world. During their stay, the eight male dancers will perform Tobari – As If in an Inexhaustible Flux.
