Iran reported 1,073 cases of dengue fever since the beginning of the current Iranian year up to December 26, according to Tabnak news agency. Out of these reported cases, 863 are considered locally transmitted, with 13 cases in Hormozgan province and 852 cases in Chabahar, while the remaining cases are imported, as reported by Tasnim News.

Qobad Moradi, the head of the Center for Management of Communicable Diseases at the Iranian Ministry of Health, stated that 12 dengue fever patients with a history of travel to Chabahar were diagnosed in other provinces of Iran, according to Tasnim News Agency. These patients were identified in the counties of Shahr-e Kord, Meshkin Shahr, Isfahan, Iranshahr, Zahedan, and Ardabil, as reported by Tasnim News.

"The Aedes mosquito is the vector of dengue fever," said Moradi, head of the Communicable Diseases Management Center of the Ministry of Health, according to Tabnak. He explained that the Aedes mosquito is present in the country, and the environmental conditions in some regions are suitable for the multiplication of the mosquito, as reported by Deutsche Welle.

Moradi stated that surface waters are abundant in the city of Chabahar, which provides space for the multiplication of the Aedes mosquito, and lamented that unfortunately, people living in the city lack some facilities, such as a sewage system, as reported by Tabnak.

"Environmental improvement is considered the best intervention to combat dengue fever," Moradi said, according to Tabnak. He added that the Ministry was also working to identify patients and carry out intervention measures.

Moradi stated that the Ministry of Health was able to identify two serotypes of dengue fever in the city of Chabahar, while four serotypes or different subgroups of the dengue virus are known,.

The dengue virus is prevalent in tropical, subtropical, and semi-tropical regions.
